Commitment: This is a new full-time permanent role which is available from August 1st 2022. Food Works values a healthy work life balance, which includes a 36 hour working week and a generous 34 days of leave. Our Food Hub opens 7 days a week and you will be expected to work a share of weekend days as part of your working week. We aim to agree working schedules with consideration for everyone’s personal lives and actively work to support flexible working hours
Salary: £25,028.64 – 26,881.92 per annum, depending on the candidate

The purpose of this job
Food Works is building a movement for fair and sustainable food. We do this by creating inspiring food services that are both sustainable and accessible for all. Our food is sourced from business surpluses and community growing. As demand for our food is growing fast, we are looking for an energetic leader and member of our senior team who can develop our food partnerships to help grow our work. This will have a particular focus on building business partnerships with producers, wholesalers and distributors to utilise their bulk surpluses for our mission.
Key responsibilities
Sourcing Food
Develop and implement a food sourcing policy that supports the organisation in the delivery of its mission
Build and maintain strategic relationships with food sourcing partners to maximise our access to sustainable and affordable food
Work with other redistribution and growing organisations to share best practice and collaborate on better and shared access to surplus nationally.
Manage the logistics of surplus collections and deliveries
Warehouse and farm operations
Oversee the daily operations in our warehouse and farm, supporting staff and volunteers who work in these areas
Ensure our operations in warehouse and farm sites comply with general and food safety regulations.
General exec duties
Collaborate within the executive team on the development of strategies and activities to further our mission and impact.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Act as a proactive member of the executive team, taking on lead roles on policy issues where relevant and appropriate
Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility for the job and actively support the aims of Food Works Sheffield
