This dish was a real treat, and an absolute hit with our customers. Kohlrabi and carrot in a white sauce, created by our wonderful volunteer Heidrun.

The star of the show? Kohlrabi.

It was donated from a local growing community, and might otherwise have gone to waste.

We had great feedback from Morag Macdougall about the dish today.

At Food Works, we love turning surplus produce into meals that are not only affordable, but also delicious. Every day in our kitchens, volunteers work alongside our chefs to create dishes like this. No good food is wasted and everyone gets to enjoy something tasty!

Huge thanks to Heidrun and all of our amazing volunteers who make this possible, and to our cafe customers who support the work we do simply by choosing to eat with us.

Want to try it for yourself? Visit one of our community cafes for a meal made with love, rescued ingredients, and a big helping of community spirit.
