Growing Food

We’re building a city where everyone can grow and enjoy local, nature-friendly food.

At our community nursery in Graves Park, we’re raising seedlings and running workshops to support the next generation of food growers in Sheffield. From local communities and schools to individual growers, everyone is invited to join our growing network.

Growing food together locally

The Food Works Farm is about turning underused land into thriving community growing spaces. Working alongside local volunteers, we produce fresh food for communities across the city.

Better for the environment

Locally grown food is one of the most powerful ways we can improve our food system. By reducing long-distance transportation, storage, and artificial preservation, we dramatically lower the environmental impact of what we eat.

We also close the loop by recycling food leftovers into compost or animal feed at our growing sites and with our partners across Sheffield.

Building resilience

Growing food on our doorstep makes our city more resilient. By relying less on global supply chains and more on local collaboration, we help ensure good food is available when it’s needed most.

By growing together with volunteers, we make food production accessible, inclusive, and community-led.

Buy plants grown on our farm!

More than just a plant

When you buy our plants, you’re doing more than just adding greenery to your garden – you’re directly supporting a local, sustainable food system.

Growing together, locally

Every plant we grow and sell helps fund our community growing spaces, reduces the environmental cost of transporting food, and keeps fresh, nutritious produce accessible for everyone.

Supporting young growers

Plus, your purchase supports our work with schools across Sheffield, helping children grow their own food and learn where it comes from.

Plants will be available for purchase soon!
