This month, we’re proud to welcome Cortonwood Comeback Centre as our newest Just Meals collection hub. Established in 1986 by local volunteers after the 1984–85 miners’ strike, the Centre has been a constant source of support and community ever since. It was founded to help people facing the challenges that followed the closure of Cortonwood Colliery—the very event that sparked the national strike.

Today, the building is a lively hub offering everything from toddler groups and youth theatre to a welcoming café and wider support network.

Every Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 3pm the Centre opens its doors, and you’ll be able to buy one of our Just Meals to take away and enjoy, or heat one up on site. Whether you’re there for a meal, a conversation, or simply a moment of respite, you’ll find a place where everyone belongs.

If you’re in the area, drop by to say hello, and experience firsthand the community spirit that continues to thrive at Cortonwood Comeback Centre.
