Helen has been a patron box subscriber for over five years, and she still loves the little surprises that appear in her box each week. The home-grown vegetables are now a regular treat, inspiring her to experiment with new recipes and discover creative ways to enjoy healthy, seasonal food.
Since retiring, Helen has also been volunteering in the Food Works cafes. She splits her time between Sharrow and Upperthorpe, where she meets new people and learns from a whole mix of interesting characters. There’s always something new to discover, and she finds it incredibly rewarding to see how her small contribution makes a real difference. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to share skills with others, help the community thrive, and to brighten someone’s day.
Everyone can make a difference and support our mission in whatever way they’re able. Volunteering is just one way to get involved, and it benefits everyone.
- Sharing nourishing meals with our community
- Reducing food waste and making the most of every ingredient
- Building connections and friendships across the community.
Every action, big or small, helps us build a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.
If volunteering isn’t possible, you can still play a part in our mission.
