We had a wonderful afternoon at our latest workshop, proving that you don’t need an allotment to grow a feast! We shared techniques that show how even a tiny balcony, a concrete yard, or a small patch of land can thrive.

The windowsill superfood

We started small but mighty with microgreens. These are a fantastic way to get highly nutritious greens on your plate with almost zero effort. All you need is a punnet, some seeds, and a sunny windowsill!

We used marrowfat peas to start some pea shoots, but the possibilities are endless. Our Patron Box customers might have spotted some spicy salad microgreens in their deliveries last month!

Vertical growing and upcycling

When you can’t grow out, grow up! We explored creative ways to use vertical space, from training squash plants up trellises to growing climbing beans and peas in pots. We also got hands-on by turning disused pallets into planters – a fun, budget-friendly way to pack salads, flowers, and herbs into a small space.
