With the help of some warmer days this month, our salad beds are bursting with goodness! Some of these plants have been in the beds since last November, waiting patiently for a bit of sunshine to get growing. We’re so grateful to see them finally take off.

A bounty of winter-hardy greens

We’ve currently got a lush mix of Asian Greens ready for harvest, including:

  • Mizuna
  • Purple & Golden Frills
  • Nutty Corn Salad
  • Fresh Lettuce

Asian Greens are great for this time of year as they are incredibly cold-hardy compared to standard summer lettuce.

The magic of ‘cut and come again’

All of these crops are what we call ‘cut and come again’, so the more we pick, the more they grow! It’s been a real joy picking these for the patron boxes one week and seeing them produce a whole new set of tasty leaves just a few days later.

Sign up for a weekly patron box to get your hands on delicious veggies coming from the farm!

Microgreens: small leaves, big flavour

Some patrons may have noticed microgreen punnets in their recent boxes. We’ve been busy sowing mustard and pea shoots in recycled punnets delivered from the warehouse, so keep an eye out for those too!

You can help us! If you have any spare plastic punnets at home, please send them our way. They are the perfect size for our next round of microgreen sowings. Please drop them off at our warehouse – and please make sure that they are CLEAN!

Want to grow your own?

If you’ve been inspired by our spring harvest, we’d love to help you get your own salad days started at home.
