On a very snowy Sunday in January we hosted our first growing workshop – ‘Creating a no-dig bed for Spring’ on our site at Norton Nurseries. Our group learnt the basics of no-dig gardening:

  • what the benefits are
  • what you need to get started
  • how it’s relevant to the spaces that they’re each working with.

We kept warm with cups of tea, and by building our own no-dig bed inside the nurseries – learning how simple and accessible it is to build a garden bed from scratch, with materials you can easily get your hands on!

Thanks to all who braved the snow to join us! It was well worth it, with attendees saying they felt inspired and confident to get going on their own gardens in time for Spring.

Our workshops are perfect for beginners, seasoned growers who want to learn something new, and those who want to get a bit of practical experience in a welcoming environment. They’re small, hands-on, and designed so you can ask questions, make mistakes, and learn by doing.

Whether you’ve got an allotment, a garden, patio space, a balcony or are involved in a community garden, we’re here to guide you through what you can do to make your food growing a success!

We’ve got lots more workshops coming up this year – our next one is an ‘Introduction to Apple Tree Pruning’ on Sunday 25th January. There’s only a few spots left on that one, so grab one while you can!
