Every Tuesday members of the Boxing for Brain Health group meet at Sheffield City Boxing Club which is located in Sharrow Community Forum – just like us. These non-contact sessions are specifically designed for adults managing neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, early-stage dementia, and stroke recovery.
While the boxing sessions themselves are amazing, what makes the day truly special for the group is the opportunity to head over to our cafe afterward. The friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere provide the perfect space for everyone to sit down, share delicious food, and catch up with one another.
Discovering our Patron Boxes
The connection to Food Works has grown even stronger recently, with some members subscribing to our weekly Patron Boxes. It has proven to be a brilliant, community-driven way to support a better, more sustainable food system in Sheffield.
Here is why the boxes have become such a hit:
Every box is completely different. It makes unpacking it exciting each week and offers a fantastic way to discover new foods and ingredients that might otherwise go to waste.
At just £10 per week, the fresh produce is fantastic quality, always includes a little treat, and helps save money on the weekly food shop.
Knowing that being a patron directly supports local, nature-friendly food production – while receiving fresh produce, herbs, and even crops to grow at home – makes you feel part of something genuinely positive.
The addition of the ready meals is a fantastic touch. They are delicious, convenient, perfectly aligned with the ethos of reducing waste, and provide a well-deserved night off from cooking!
A welcoming space for everyone
Food Works is doing something genuinely inspiring for Sheffield – supporting people, reducing food waste, and creating a more sustainable future.
The core mission is all about community, and we thrive on the diverse range of people who walk through our doors. Whether you are attending a session with the Sharrow Community Forum or just passing by, everyone is welcome!
A note from our team
It was a real pleasure to speak to this lovely group of people, and hear their story – and finally explain why we kept seeing these same faces every week in matching t-shirts! It makes what we do feel even more special and worthwhile.
If you’ve got a story to tell about why you visit one of our sites, we would love to hear and share it! Please contact Sarah with your stories.
