We had a great time learning the basics of sushi making, from preparing and seasoning sushi rice to rolling our own maki and hand rolls. We used a selection of fresh ingredients including cucumber, carrot, avocado and pickled vegetables, showing that sushi doesn’t have to include fish to be delicious!

Top Tips for Perfect Sushi at Home

Along the way we shared a few simple tips, like keeping your hands wet when handling the rice, not overfilling your rolls, and using a damp, sharp knife for clean slices. We also talked about how sushi is a fantastic way to use up leftover vegetables and get creative with whatever you already have at home.

Confidence in the Kitchen

Everyone left with their own handmade sushi and, hopefully, the confidence to give it another go in their own kitchen!
